A LUXURY Day At The Races

A Luxury Day at the Races

Introduction

Horse racing is, quite rightly, known as "The Sport of Kings", but enjoyment of it is not restricted to men in top hats and tails and ladies in glamorous hats. True, at a day at the races is usually considered an elegant affair – as typified by Derby Day at Epsom, or Ladies` Day at the Royal Ascot meeting – but, with a total of 59 racecourses up and down the country, each with its own character and atmosphere, there really is something to suit every taste and budget.

Eclipse Limousines Services

At Eclipse Limousines we like to help make your day not only Luxurious and Extra special but also relaxing. We offer a variety of race meeting transport, but Stretch Limousine being the most popular. Different race meetings have different parking and access rules for Limousines, from the basic course, which offers you a Limousine Pickup from your home, a breakfast stop on route to the racecourse, parking at the racecourse to await your departure back home again, all in true style and luxury. To the big meetings like Royal Ascot where the Limousine parks next to the track and the drivers put up gazeeboes and tables and chairs so you can eat by the car as and when during the day, with our chauffeurs doubling up as your buttlers, serving your food for you and clearing away after whilst you enjoy the racing.

A Day at the Races

Obviously, the more you know about what happens during a typical day at the races, the more you`ll enjoy it, but, even so, the spectacle of seeing thoroughbred racehorses and jockeys "in the flesh", the excitement of each race, and betting on it – with the possibility of winning a few pounds – are fairly self explanatory. Indeed, these are among the reasons why six million people, each year, go racing

Of course, not all of us are lucky enough to live within easy reach of a Grade 1 racecourse, such as Ascot, Cheltenham, Goodwood or York, but many of the so-called "lesser" racecourses still offer excellent facilities and a range of experiences suitable for a luxury day out, such as, Chepstow, Newbury, Wincanton, Exeter and Bath.

If you are travelling to the races under your own steam, rather than by Chauffeur Driven Stretch Limousine, or Executive Car – which are, of course, possibilities, if you are suitably well-heeled – it probably best to choose a racecourse within a maximum of two hours` driving time. Leave plenty of time for your journey, and aim to arrive at the racecourse at least one hour before the first race, particularly if you are visiting the racecourse for the first time. This will allow you plenty of time to stop for lunch, or a picnic, and to familiarise yourself with the various facilities within the racecourse.

Obviously, going racing in May, June, July or August increases the likelihood of settled weather, and your chance for a picnic, but may also increase your chances of winning, as horse racing form tends to work out better when underfoot conditions are consistent. Unfortunately, there can be no guarantees in either case. There is usually plenty of room in racecourse car parks for picnickers, but if you want something more sophisticated, there are usually a selection of racecourse restaurants and bars to choose from. Bear in mind, however, that you are not allowed, for the safety and comfort of other racegoers, to wander around racecourses with food or drink in hand.

With regard to what to wear for your day at the races, dress codes usually apply for the Tattersalls and Members` enclosures, and, if you turn up in jeans and a T-shirt, you are likely to be ushered towards the less salubrious Silver Ring, which has only limited access to bookmakers and racecourse facilities.

When you arrive at the racecourse, don`t forget to buy a race programme, or race card, for the day. This contains information on the runners and riders for each race of the day – possibly with http://www.freeracingtips.co.uk racing  tips  and, often, a map of the racecourse, itself, showing restaurants, toilets, etc..
